While more children are surviving cancer than in previous decades, heart failure is one of the most important late effects after treatment. Our research funds work done in the sub-specialty of Pediatric Cardio-Oncology whose goal is to reduce the side effects of cancer treatment on children's cardiovascular system.
"It (1st International Pediatric Cardio-Oncology Conference) was not only a nominal "First", but its design and the inclusion of so much more than "rounding up the usual suspects" made it totally unique. And it worked! The presence (and interactions) of the oncologists and cardiologists was remarkable!"
Stephan Sallan, MD from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Our patient and family centered programs are designed to enhance the quality of life of children with cancer and their families. To help them forget, if only for a little while, the journey upon which they have been thrust. Currently we offer ten programs that include art therapy and art distraction, horse camp, visits to the zoo and college scholarships.
"This is going to be the best summer! I'm going to go to the barn to see and ride horses!"
