Sofia and her sister, Gabi,  loved animals of all kinds and had every stuffed animal imaginable.  That’s why it’s not surprising that while she was in treatment one her favorite things to do was going to the Zoo.  We’d rent the bikes and stroll the entire park.  It was a place where she could be a kid and forget about being sick!!

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a Family Membership.  So Sofia’s Hope in conjunction with Zoo Miami is providing families with a child with cancer an Adopt-an-Animal crates which include the following

  • Stuffed Animal (i.e., American Alligator, Okapi, Otter or African Elephant)

  • Certificate of adoption

  • Animal fun facts

  • Animal photo by Ron Magill

  • Subscription to Zoo Miami’s e-newsletter “Keepin’ it Wild”

PLUS a gift card for a FREE 1-year Family Membership to Zoo Miami!!!!  Not only will they be able to visit Zoo Miami all year, the membership includes discounted pricing at participating parks/attractions around the country.  Here in Miami folks can get 20% off of tickets to Miami Seaquarium, Jungle Island Miami, Gold Coast Railroad Museum and Everglades Safari Park and up to 50% off to other Florida attractions.  For a complete list click here.

Crates are being distributed to patients at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Baptist Health/Miami Cancer Institute, UM Sylvester/Holtz Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and The Salah Foundation Children's Hospital at Broward Health through their respective Child Life specialists.
