This program is made up of the simple things which may be overlooked by many but which mean so much to those on the receiving end. It is providing clinics with lollipops, tissue boxes and fun band-aids for their vitals area. Small things that help patients and their parents deal with the anxiety and fear of getting pricked once more, wondering whether their child's counts are good enough for treatment, etc.
It's the toys for the Treasure Chest where patients can choose a toy of their liking after having their port accessed or any other in-office procedure. It is the development of End of Treatment and 5 Years Off Treatment certificates and birthday celebrations. It's family trips to Fl Panther's games, dance classes for teen patient who loves ballet, make-up session for terminal teen who wanted to study cosmetology but did not get the chance, the inflatable tub for the mom who wants to give her terminal toddler a real bath in the hospital, and so many more treasured moments.
This program will also include the annual Holiday distribution of Target gift cards newly diagnosed teens, as well as the provision year-round of grocery, gas, transportation, and meal gift cards (Subway, Panera, hospital eateries) for families facing financial hardship, This program has grown year-over-year and the need is growing. American Girl Doll & Build-A-Bear Project
A Partnership with
​As part of our Treasured Moments program, Sofia’s Hope has partnered with A Doll’s Journey to provide meaningful comfort items to children facing cancer treatment.
Bald American Girl Truly Me dolls are thoughtfully chosen to reflect each child, helping normalize hair loss and allowing patients to see themselves represented with pride. These dolls remind young warriors that their bald heads are not something to hide, but a powerful badge of courage and strength.
Build-A-Bear teddy bears serve as soft support companions, offering comfort, reassurance, and a sense of security during hospital stays, treatments, and moments when extra emotional support is needed.
Together, the dolls and bears bring joy, confidence, and comfort, reminding our heroes that they are seen, supported, and never alone.
Dolls and bears are distributed through Child Life Specialists, or families may request one by emailing programs@sofiashope.org.
Through this partnership, A Doll’s Journey handles all fundraising, and Sofia’s Hope matches every dollar 100%. Each doll costs $135, and each bear costs $50. We invite you to consider sponsoring one—or both—of these special items for a deserving child by clicking below.
