Newly Diagnosed Family Kits made possible by:
When a parent receives the news that their child has cancer, they are so overwhelmed they hear very little else that is said during the conversation. The purpose of these kits is to provide these parents with some tools to help them gain some control (even if it is perceived) over their lives and face their new reality.
The kits contain over 25+ items that Mrs. Blanco found useful during Sofia’s year of treatment and ones she wished had been given to her when Sofia was first diagnosed. Items include a super soft, plush fleece blanket, games/toys, hand sanitizer products, masks, a journal, pill organizer with pill splitter and crusher, two (2) pairs of Natural Acupressure Nausea Relief Wristbands, wash cloth with toiletries, hospital cafeteria meal vouchers/restaurant gift card, a journal and notebook with pockets to help manage your child's care and much more.
Kits are currently being distributed at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Baptist Health/Miami Cancer Institute, UM Sylvester/Holtz Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, The Salah Foundation Children's Hospital at Broward Health and Palm Beach Children's Hospital at St. Mary's. Each kit costs over $125 and there are almost 200 newly diagnosed children a year across these hospitals. Please consider sponsoring an entire kit by clicking here. Or check out our Wish List and do a collection for any or all of the items through your school or office.
