Family Field Trips to Zoo Miami & Tinez Farms

Four times a year Sofia's Hope provides patients and their families with a fun-filled day at Zoo Miami. Transportation via Uber or Lyft gift cards is provided when necessary and lunch for all is included. Activities vary but have included a one-hour guided walking tour of Africa and the Florida Everglades, rides on the Carousel, feeding the giraffes, tram tour of the zoo, and "Creature Feature" presentation. After lunch families are free to enjoy the zoo on their own, with many spending time at the water park. At the end of the day, each patient and their siblings receive an adopt-an-animal gift package as their souvenir.
Recently, field trips to Tinez Farms a small family-owned farm located in farm district of South Florida have been added to the calendar. Every visit is filled with wholesome experiences, from interacting with friendly farm animals to enjoying delicious farm-fresh food and so much more.
Since COVID Sofia's Hope also offers 2 annual virtual visits to Zoo Miami where families with children facing a childhood cancer diagnosis can join via Zoom for a free 30-minute interactive program, where they learn about various animals, their environments, adaptations, etc. After their time with the Zoo Guides, participants, led by our partners at Clay World or Nailed It Studio Miami, make their own unique art project related to the visit's theme.
